Michael N. Delune
Michael N. Delune joined SMBC MANUBANK in 2015 and currently serves as Managing Director, General Counsel. As primary lawyer and legal advisor to the bank and a member of the executive leadership team, Michael is responsible for overseeing the bank’s Legal department, which provides legal support to the bank and its board of directors.
With more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry Michael leverages his comprehensive expertise in corporate governance, risk management, regulatory compliance and litigation management to enhance business success, profitability and strategic goals. He drives legal strategy, maintains relationships with key regulators, serves on key governance committees, and advises the bank and its board of directors. Prior to his current role, Michael also served as Senior Counsel and Chief Risk Officer for the bank.
Michael also periodically teaches courses to graduate and post-graduate students on the law of banking and financial institutions, most recently at Albany Law School in New York.
Prior to joining SMBC MANUBANK, Michael was a Senior Associate at Aldrich & Bonnefin P.L.C. and Bankers Compliance Group, in the firm’s Corporate Group, representing over 130 financial institutions and specializing in corporate governance, regulatory compliance and commercial lending.
Michael also spent four years working for The Boeing Company, including their financing division (Boeing Capital Corporation) in support of their leasing and finance business, and in their defense division supporting the financial reporting functions for various defense and space programs.
Michael earned his Bachelor of Science, Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University, and obtained his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School.
In his free time, Michael enjoys hiking and camping, SCUBA diving, and spending quality time with his family.
